Veiled

Flame

An Intimate Lake Pukaki Wedding

This series explores movement, vulnerability, and transformation through light, shadow, and sheer fabric. The red veil became both costume and character, sometimes soft and flowing, sometimes intense and all-consuming. We wanted every frame to feel like a moment caught mid-emotion, like a still from a dance you can’t quite explain.

I was deeply involved in the creative direction of this shoot, especially in shaping the mood and the use of the fabric as both concealment and expression. There's a theatricality here that I love, where the body becomes part of the storytelling, and light feels like a collaborator.

We shot this in near darkness, just one soft light source and a floor-to-ceiling red veil. It was more like moving through a performance than posing. I played with tension in the fabric, letting it wrap, cling, or float freely. It was hot, dramatic, and strangely meditative. The shoot pushed me physically and emotionally, exactly the kind I live for.
